Checklist:

  • Have I donated what I can to black owned and led organizations?

  • Have I diversified my feed and started following, and learning, from black voices? Have I done the work to curate the information I consume for the long term?

  • Have I spoken to, and will continue to speak with, my friends and family about what they can do, even if it is uncomfortable?

  • Have I bought books by Black authors and leaders? Can I borrow books from people I know?

  • Am I doing this as a performative show of ‘activism’ to feel validated or applauded by my audience or to visually prove I am not a racist? If so, I will want to rethink my intention.

  • Have I committed to sharing important updates and resources I find relevant to the Black Lives Matter movement?

  • Have I listened to the voices who are using the #blacklivesmatter hashtag to organize and educate?

Reminder: Black people are not obligated to teach anything.

Please feel free to reach out if there is something you would like to see added to this list. I will be updating it as new information surfaces.
